Syrian troops kill dozens of foreign terrorists on Damascus outskirts

Syrian Army soldiers have killed dozens of foreign-sponsored insurgents during mop-up operations on the outskirts of the violence-scarred capital Damascus.

A number of al-Qaeda-linked gunmen were killed during intense clashes with Syrian troops at al-Bassel roundabout in the town of Daraya, located eight kilometers (five miles) southwest of Damascus, on Tuesday, the SANA news agency reported.

Some of the terrorists managed to flee and hide in nearby buildings.

Moreover, Syrian soldiers killed a number of armed terrorists near al-Radwan Hospital in the town.

Dozens of foreign terrorists were also shot dead near al-Ibaa private school, when they engaged in clashes with Syrian government forces.

Earlier in the day, Syrian Army soldiers clashed with foreign terrorists in al-Dhiyabiyeh town, and killed dozens of them.

Units of government forces also killed a number of insurgents in al-Hejjeira and al-Husseiniyeh towns.

In Zamalka town, Syrian Army forces killed tens of al-Qaeda-linked terrorists.

Security forces also confronted an attack on a police station in the town of Jubar, and killed scores of terrorists.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the insurgents are foreign nationals.
