Syrians in occupied Golan Heights reject Netanyahu’s new ‘Trump’ settlement

The Syrian residents in the occupied Golan Heights rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent move to name a new settlement after U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the residents of Majdal Shams, Baka’ata, Ayn Qinyah and Masa’ada said that Netanyahu’s move was an aggressive and illegal procedure which contradicts the UN charter and resolutions.

Sidqi Al-Maqt, who was recently released from an Israeli prison, stressed that citizens of the Golan Heights are facing unjust measures imposed on the Syrian people of the occupied territories.

On Sunday, Netanyahu announced that he was naming a new settlement in the occupied Golan Heights after the U.S. President.

Netanyahu’s decision to name this settlement after Trump comes just a month after the U.S. President announced his country’s recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over this region.
