Tehran expressed approval following Yemen’s decision to release the crew of a ship linked to Israel

Iran has expressed approval for Yemen's recent decision to release the crew of a cargo vessel connected to Israel. The ship had been seized following Israel's military actions in the Gaza Strip.

An aide to Iran’s foreign minister and the director general for Persian Gulf Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that his office has been actively engaged in addressing the issue by maintaining communications with pertinent entities in Yemen and the Palestinian Hamas resistance group over recent months.

Mohammad Alibek announced that, thanks to the genuine collaboration of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement, the ship’s crew members will soon be repatriated to their home countries.

In a move aligned with its campaign backing Palestinians in Gaza, Yemeni forces have detained the Galaxy Leader, a vessel registered under the Bahamas flag and run by a Japanese operator. The ship is owned by a British company, which has partial ownership links to Israeli magnate Abraham (Rami) Ungar.

In a strategic operation in November 2023, Yemeni forces executed a helicopter-borne maneuver in the Red Sea, resulting in a significant seizure.

Since then, the ship’s crew of 25 members, comprising 17 Filipinos, three Ukrainians, two Bulgarians, two Mexicans, and one Romanian, has remained detained in Yemen.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Political Council of Yemen declared the release of the Galaxy Leader’s crew. Officials stated that this decision was made as a gesture to bolster the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza.

According to a report from Yemen’s al-Masirah television channel, the ship’s crew has been transferred to Omani mediators.

This initiative is a component of Yemen’s comprehensive strategy to bolster support for the Palestinian people and enhance regional unity in response to the ongoing violent conflict in Gaza involving Israel.

**Mexico Expresses Gratitude to Mediators, Including Iran**

In a recent announcement, Mexico has extended its appreciation to mediators, with Iran among them, for their efforts in facilitating dialogue and cooperation. This acknowledgment highlights Mexico’s commitment to fostering international diplomacy and collaboration in addressing global issues.

The Mexican Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Anibal Gomez-Toledo, shared a photo on X platform, showcasing himself alongside the two Mexican crew members recently released from the Galaxy Leader.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry has expressed its appreciation to Oman for its role in mediating recent efforts, while also acknowledging the support provided by Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, and Mexico’s honorary consuls in Yemen and Oman.
