In response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message of congratulation on his election win, Rohani expressed hope that the deep-rooted relations between the two countries would be bolstered in various areas.

“My government will advocate (the promotion of) peace and friendship across the globe and will not spare any effort to this end,” Rohani said.

Also in response to Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz’s congratulation to him on his victory, Rohani said on Monday that Tehran and Riyadh can help promote peace and stability in the region through their prudence.

He emphasized that relations with neighboring countries would take high priority in his administration.

Turkish president wishes Rohani success

On the same day, Turkish President Abdullah Gul made a phone call to Iran’s newly elected president and congratulated him, wishing the next Iranian administration success.

During the conversation, the Turkish president said that he was following Iran’s presidential campaign programs closely and hailed the fact that people from all walks of life were attracted to Rohani’s views and platform.

Gul also expressed hope to meet with Iran’s new president during the next United Nations General Assembly session.

And Rohani thanked the Turkish president for his congratulation, adding that foreign provocative acts in Turkey’s domestic affairs are not acceptable.

He also said that strengthening relation and cooperation between the two countries to help resolve regional issues can promote peace and stability in the region.

Rohani was elected Iran’s 11th president in a nationwide election held on June 14, receiving more than 18 million votes out of nearly 36 million total votes cast.
