In Gaza City, the Israeli military reported that its ground forces have commenced operations in the Shejaiya neighborhood, aiming to broaden the “security zone” in the area. According to their statement, civilians were provided with the opportunity to evacuate.
Preliminary accounts indicate that a Palestinian woman and her daughter have been killed due to Israeli artillery shelling targeting displaced individuals in Shejaiya.
According to Gaza’s civil defense agency, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of at least 30 individuals in the Palestinian territory since the early hours of the day. The agency noted that the casualty figure is “not final.”
An Israeli airstrike targeting Khan Yunis resulted in the deaths of at least 25 individuals, according to a medical source at Nasser Hospital in the southern city.
Elena Halas communicated to AFP, reportedly via text message, stating, “The situation is extremely perilous, and threats of death are approaching from all sides.” She mentioned that she and her family were confined to her sister’s residence in Shejaiya.
Since the breakdown of a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing conflict, Israel has intensified its efforts to capture territory within Gaza. Concurrently, the nation has heightened military operations in Lebanon and Syria, evidenced by an airstrike in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon on Friday that resulted in the death of a Hamas commander and his son.
On Wednesday, Israel’s Minister of Military Affairs, Israel Katz, announced plans to enhance the nation’s military presence within the Gaza Strip. This move aims to “seize large areas” to be integrated into Israeli security zones, although details on the size of the territory were not disclosed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the military is actively partitioning the Gaza region and gaining control of territory, with the strategic aim of compelling Hamas to release the captives taken during the October 2023 incursion into southern communities.
Netanyahu stated that his administration is collaborating closely with the United States to execute Trump’s plan to relocate residents of Gaza.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 112 Palestinians. Among those, at least 70 fatalities were recorded in the northern area of the strip, specifically in Gaza City.
