The Gaza Health Ministry issues an urgent appeal for international assistance to safeguard hospitals amid escalating Israeli military operations

The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported an intensification of assaults by the Israeli military on hospitals located in northern Gaza. The ministry has urgently appealed for the protection of healthcare workers and medical facilities in the area.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the ministry reported that Israeli forces have imposed a siege and are directly targeting three significant hospitals in the region. These include the Indonesian Hospital, Kamal Adwan Hospital, and al-Awda Hospital, with actions purportedly occurring in recent hours.

According to reports, the Israeli military is compelling the evacuation of the injured and patients from the Indonesian Hospital.

According to reports, Israeli airstrikes are continuously targeting various departments of Kamal Adwan Hospital and its surrounding areas, operating without pause or interruption.

In a statement issued today, it was reported that shrapnel has littered the hospital yard, resulting in alarming noises and significant structural damage.

The ministry has issued a call for urgent intervention from international and United Nations institutions, as well as relevant parties, to safeguard the healthcare infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

On October 7, 2023, Israel initiated military operations against Gaza following a surprise assault by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas. Dubbed ‘Operation Al-Aqsa Flood,’ the offensive was carried out in retaliation to what Hamas described as Israel’s prolonged history of violence and destruction against the Palestinian people.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the ongoing military offensive in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 45,338 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, with an additional 107,764 individuals sustaining injuries. Moreover, thousands are reportedly missing and feared to be trapped beneath debris.

Since October 2023, the Israeli Defense Forces have consistently restricted the flow of essential humanitarian aid, including food, medicine, medical supplies, fuel, and shelter materials, into the Palestinian territory under blockade.

The territory’s essential infrastructure, including water networks, sanitation facilities, and bread mills, has been completely destroyed.
