The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is introducing ‘new weaponry’ in its ongoing Ground Force military exercises
The Ground Forces of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have introduced "new weaponry and equipment" during ongoing military exercises in the western regions of the country.
Brigadier General Mohammad-Nazar Azimi, who leads the Ground Forces’ Najaf Ashraf Headquarters, delivered a statement on Saturday.
The exercises also utilize the skills of local Basij volunteer forces, stated the official, expressing hope that these initiatives and maneuvers will enhance the honor and strength of the nation, as well as the esteemed Islamic establishment.
The military exercises are being conducted as part of ongoing initiatives to bolster the capabilities of the nation’s Armed Forces and safeguard the sanctified institutions of the Islamic Republic, according to the commanding officer.
According to a military official, the ongoing maneuvers involve organizing enlisted personnel into designated formations and deploying them across the region. These exercises are set to progress through several additional phases.
Azimi stated that the designated area for the planned military exercises is a border region, significant historically and strategically. He remarked that this area played a crucial role during Iran’s Sacred Defense against Saddam Hussein’s forces and at various other times when adversaries aimed to destabilize the nation. Azimi commended the Iranian military for their effective actions in maintaining security in the region during such critical periods.
He stated that the exercises included a combat demonstration by a military unit affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Special Ground Forces, originating from the northern province of Gilan.
The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, comprising both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the national Army, have been actively advancing their military capabilities and combat preparedness. This ongoing effort aligns with the strategic directives laid out by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The military forces have pledged to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against the threats posed by adversaries of Iran.
