Iran, Cuba Stress Political Solution to Syrian Crisis

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla in a telephone conversation underlined the need for resolving the Syrian crisis peacefully and through national dialogue in the Muslim country.

During the phone conversation, the Iranian and Cuban foreign ministers reiterated that the Syrian crisis can only be resolved through political means.

During the phone talks, Zarif and Parrilla said that a possible US military strike will put negative impact on the entire region.

Zarif condemned any use of chemical weapons in Syria and urged the international community to pay more attention to the destructive role of the terrorist and Takfiri groups in the Muslim country.

Parrilla, for his part, said that any use of force against Syria is doomed to fail, adding that a political solution is needed in the war-ravaged country.

The US war rhetoric against Syria first gained momentum on August 21, when the militants operating inside the Middle Eastern country and the foreign-backed Syrian opposition claimed that more than 1,000 people had been killed in a government chemical attack on militant strongholds in the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar.

Iran has sought to expand ties and cooperation with the Latin American states in the recent years.
