The Proud of Islamic Ummah and Oppessed People Islamic Republic of Iran to use all means to defend integrity

A senior Iranian military commander says Iran would use every means to defend its territorial integrity if any threat is posed against the country.

Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi on Monday described the security of the strategic Strait of Hormuz as a collective matter, stressing that Iran will utilize all available means to defend its national integrity.

“The Hormuz Strait is a strategic straight for global energy and trade and 15 to 17 million barrels of oil, in other words 23 to 28 percent of the world’s oil, passes through this waterway every day,” said the Iranian commander.

Rahim-Safavi said Iran covers most of the northern coasts of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and is considered the guardian of world’s energy security.

Iran has warned that it will react to threats of Western oil sanctions against the Islamic Republic by choking oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Bahrain-based US Fifth Fleet issued a statement on December 28, 2011 claiming that it will not “tolerate” any disruption in the strategic waterway.

The United States, the Israeli regime, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program without offering any evidence in support of such allegations. Washington and Tel Aviv have also threatened Tehran with the “option” of a military strike against its civilian nuclear facilities.

Iran argues that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence indicating that Tehran’s civilian nuclear program has been diverted towards nuclear weapons production.
