The CIA has published these documents as per the so-called “Free Information Circulation Law.”
Part of the documents was published for the first time in 1981 but till now important parts of it were out of public access. In one part of the documents it is stipulated that Mosaddeq and his cabinet had been overthrown by under the direction and auspices of the CIA as an American foreign policy measure.
These documents form a part of the so-called “Battle for Iran” report which was collected by one of the historians of the CIA in 1970s.
Foreign Policy writes that it is not clear why the CIA has decided to publish such documents after long years and why some parts of them had been kept secretly.
