This Iranian Drone ‘Fotros’ keeps US, Israel up at nights

Iran’s defense minister has unveiled the country’s largest drone called ‘Fotros.’

Mehr News quoted report of the official website of the Defense Ministry quoting Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan in the unveiling ceremony of army’s largest home-made drone in defense ministry’s air industries organization.

Dehghan was speaking in the ceremony of commemoration of anniversary of Susangerd liberation. He paid homage to the memory of martyrs of the epic achievement, told that the ministry’s strategy was updating the armed forces facilities and infrastructure, and that “today we unveiled an example of this updating, that is a product of hardworking expert and staff of the Iranian Aircraft Manufacturing Industries, a branch of the Defense Ministry Air Industries Company.”

“Knowledge-based companies and universities have also cooperated within the reach of their capabilities in the process, “Dehghan added. “The strategic drone enjoys 2000Km operational diameter, flight cap of 25,000 feet and flight endurance of 16 to 30 hours. In addition to surveillance and intelligence, the drone is capable of being armed with air-to-surface missiles and wide range of rockets and combat missions,” Dehghan asserted.

Brig. Gen. Dehghan gave the drone’s many features, including protecting land and sea borders; surveillance of oil pipelines; communication lines; road traffic control; surveillance of the affected areas during crisis such as quakes, floods, and conflagration; environmental services; taking precise images and videos during missions.

He also told that the drone had been tested successfully in the most advanced laboratories. “The international standard ground tests have been carried out in low, moderate and high speeds and also in-flight tests results have been more than expected,” the minister said.

He also believed that the glorious achievement was the outcome of the country’s domestic capabilities and the symbol of national will in the ministry of defense, and that “our staff and experts trusted the God and the Holy Imams in demonstration of their innovation and genius in taking a giant leap forward in drone manufacturing industries.”

“They showed us that sanctions would not pose any barrier in the way of advancement in defense industries,” he added.

Dehghan also believed drones as the most important component of any future confrontations. “The ministry of defense has reached self-sufficiency in design and manufacture of offensive, defensive and intelligence drones sophisticated technology,” he said, expressing his gratitude to ‘laudable attempts and high integrity of the experts in air industries of the defense ministry.

Dehghan also congratulated the great achievement to the Supreme Chief Commander, armed forces and Iranian nation. “We are working to turn the models and designs into products in the drone industry, “he added.
