Thousands gather to pay tribute to Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah at the site of his assassination

Thousands of Lebanese citizens assembled at the location of an Israeli attack that resulted in the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah resistance movement. The gathering served as a tribute to the fallen leader.

A memorial ceremony, named “Light from Light,” was held on Saturday evening at the site surrounding the crater resulting from Israel’s military strike in Dahiyeh, a southern suburb of Beirut.

In a poignant display of solidarity, participants, some visibly tearful, gathered holding Hezbollah flags, candles, and images of the slain Hezbollah leader. The crowd united in chants of “At your service, Nasrallah,” paying homage to the fallen figure.

Loudspeakers broadcast speeches from a prominent resistance leader as red lights illuminated the area, marking its inaugural opening for a public memorial.

“For the past two and a half months, we have been in denial about his passing,” stated 31-year-old Narjis Khshaish. “Our anticipation has been centered around coming to this location to seek his blessings.”

Moussa Dirani, an attendee of the event held on Saturday, expressed that the resistance movement would persevere beyond the leadership of Nasrallah, asserting that his passing strengthens their resolve to uphold his legacy.

On October 7, 2023, Israel initiated a widespread military offensive across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of nearly 45,000 Palestinians to date.

In a demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinian population in Gaza, Hezbollah launched a support initiative against Israel on October 8 last year.

The ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has seen a marked escalation, with tensions intensifying since mid-September.

On September 27, reports emerged that the Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in a targeted strike involving American-supplied bunker-buster bombs in Beirut, carried out by Israeli forces.

Hezbollah has escalated its retaliatory actions targeting Israeli positions within the occupied territories.

In recent developments, Israel has agreed to a ceasefire with Hezbollah following over 14 months of intense conflict. This decision, prompted by significant casualties and unmet military objectives in Lebanon, has been recognized as a triumph for the Lebanese resistance organization. The ceasefire has garnered praise and is viewed as a notable outcome for Hezbollah.

According to a report by Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen television network, the individuals who commemorated Nasrallah were those who have endured significant personal losses, including the loss of their homes, siblings, families, livelihoods, mothers, and brothers.

“These individuals, whom adversaries anticipated would falter, now gather at the site commemorating Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s martyrdom to deliver a message: … ‘We have arrived once more as victors, time and time again.'”
