Tiger Forces continue to steamroll ISIS in southern Raqqa, new strategic site liberated

The elite Tiger Forces of the Syrian Arab Army continue to purge ISIS from the southern countryside of Raqqa Governorate, liberating one strategic site after another.

Reports have just come in that the Tiger Forces managed to liberate the Deilla oil field, located southwest of the town of Resafa, from the Islamic State.

According to a military source exclusive to Al-Masdar News, the Tiger Forces destroyed three ISIS vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) and killed 10 jihadist fighters during their assault on the Deilla oil field.

The source went on to add that pro-government forces are planning to clear out all ISIS enclaves south of the highway linking Ethriyah to Resafa before pushing directing on the strategic town of al-Sukhnah.

Based on this information, it is now clear that the SAA plans to create a large buffer zone to both the east and the west of the road linking the towns of Resafa and al-Sukhnah in the event that ISIS attempts to launch a counter-offensive against either flank.

Clearing this aforementioned region will also serve to fully secure the Ethriyah to Resafa highway itself which, although no major ISIS attacks have befallen it yet, remains rather vulnerable to raids by the terrorist group.

So far most of the strategic sites liberated by the Tiger Forces in southern Raqqa Governonate appear to be oil and gas fields as opposed to villages and towns, highlighting the economic importance of the region.
