Turkish Professor: Ankara’s Secret Relations with Israel Prevent Trial of Attackers on Gaza-Bound Aid Ship

A prominent Turkish professor revealed that Ankara’s behind-the-scene relations with Israel are impeding trial of the Israeli soldiers who killed the 9 Turkish citizens in Mavi-Marmara flotilla attack in 2010.

“The international court has confirmed the Zionists’ war crimes against the passengers of that ship after they filed a lawsuit and all foreign passengers of the Gaza-bound ship are also filing lawsuits with their own countries’ courts against the Zionists for their war crimes,” Dogan Uzluk, who was also one of Mavi-Marmara passengers, told FNA on Saturday.

He disclosed that the international court has called on the Turkish government since last year to provide it with the names of four Israeli generals and one commander present during the attack against Mavi-Marmara to prosecute them.

“Given the Turkish statesmen’s behind-the-scene relations with the Zionist regime this order has not yet been complied with by Ankara,” Uzluk added.

A Turkish daily reported in 2012 that following the straining of Turkey-Israel relations after the killing of 9 Turkish citizens in Mavi-Marmara flotilla attack, both governments had resumed their former relations secretly.

Turkish daily Yeni Asya wrote that bilateral relations were resuming the former path behind the closed doors.

“Deployment of missile shield radar in Kurecik military base in Malatya, a Southern province has the definite objective of defending the Zionist entity against Iran,” Mehr said, adding that other cooperation includes Patriot deployment near borders with Syria.

A bridge over the sea connects Iskenderun harbor to the Zionist port city of Haifa and facilitates transport of trucks from Turkey to Occupied Territories, Jordan, and other Persian Gulf states.

The bridge was constructed after Turkey closed its borders with Syria, while Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister, criticized Egypt over its position on the Zionist invasion of Gaza, and Ahmet Davutoglu, the former Turkish Foreign Minister, was crying for the victims during his Gaza visit.

Yeni Asya daily also revealed that Hakan Fidan, head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had meetings with the head of Mossad to boost intelligence cooperation with Israel.

According to this report, the detente is not limited to intelligence, and political relations also on the card between these traditionally-allied countries.

Yeni Asya unfolded that Erdogan criticizes the Israeli occupiers in public, while – at the same time – holds secret diplomatic and intelligence meetings with it. A 58-per cent rise in Israeli exports to Turkey and 42-per cent rise in Turkey’s exports to Israel have made Turkey the 4th largest exporter to the Zionist entity.
