The two-state solution which proposes offering just a fifth of the historic land of Palestine to Palestinians is the brainchild of Zionists, says a professor.

“The two-state solution considered by so many activists all over the world is a racist solution. The two-state solution and recognizing an independent Palestinian state on 22 percent of the historic land of Palestine is originally a Zionist idea”, Haidar Eid said in an interview with Press TV.

The Israeli regime has been sorely irked by Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven’s recent announcement that his government will formally recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.

Recognizing the state of Palestine shows that the Western governments have been under tremendous pressure exerted on them by their civil society, Eid added.

“By recognizing the state of Palestine – by the way Sweden is the first country to do that – this shows that these Western governments have been under tremendous pressure exerted on them by their civil society but at the same time Israel as a racist … [entity] has been recognized by the West since its establishment.”

The professor also noted that the US and Western governments have been supporting the establishment of a Bantustan.

“Palestine has been winning the battle of image. The fact that Israel has been led by the most right-wing and fascist … [regime] in the history of the … [entity] of Israel, this has put off so many Western countries including the American government itself and therefore they have been supporting the establishment of a Bantustan on parts of 22 percent of the historic land of Palestine”, the professor said.
