At least two US-led forces have been injured in a roadside bomb explosion in war-torn Afghanistan, Press TV reports.

According to local authorities, the incident took place on Tuesday evening in the southern province of Helmand.

Further details regarding the nationality of the injured troopers have not been released.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Afghan officials put the blame on the Taliban militants, who have carried out similar assaults in the past.

The militants mostly use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against Afghan forces, foreign troops and civilians.

The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of combating terrorism. The invasion removed the Taliban from power, but Afghanistan remains insecure despite the presence of many US-led forces there.

The US-led war, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in American history.
