Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief accuses West of HR violations

Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief on Saturday accused the West of gross human rights violations but regretted that the western nations put the blame of rights abuses on Muslims.

Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi speaking at an international judicial conference said that Muslims are the victims of human rights violations.

Expressing his views Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief termed money laundering as crucial subject and stressed the need to find out causes of money laundering.

He said that according to the United Nations (UN) narcotics production have been increased upto 40 percent after stationing of the Nato forces in Afghanistan.

He noted that many drug traffickers are getting support of big powers. Raeisi added that drug trafficking has done a lot of damage to Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. He described drug trafficking as crime against humanity.

The Iranian official said that terrorists want to implement their agenda through power. He said that Iran is victim of terrorism adding that all the signs of Islam are being targeted by the West.

“Innocent women and children were killed in a village but their killers have not been brought to justice,” regretted Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi.

“Where poor is punished and rich is acquitted a society cannot be called a successful one”, he said.

Iranian Judiciary representative said Imam Khomeini had taught us three important things “to know the rights, stand by the rights and fight for the rights.’ He added that duty of a Muslim is to fight for his rights and the awareness in the region has also shown this.

“We have passed money laundering law and have implemented it in Iran,” he told the audience.

Answering a question, he said that difficulties of people of Afghanistan are the difficulties of the people of Iran. Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief said that Iran salutes the sacrifices of Afghan people.

“We support all the organizations that have been working for restoring peace to Afghanistan,” said the Iranian official.

To another question he said that Iran supports the cause of Kashmiri people.

Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi on the occasion said after the Islamic Revolution all Islamic laws have been implemented in Iran. “All of our laws are based on Islamic Shariah,” he explained.

He said contrary to western propaganda the punishment is awarded according to the crime. “Violators of Human Rights are today calling themselves as champions of Human Rights…We are the victims and they are accused,” he said.

Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief expressed greetings of the people and officials of Iran to the participants from different countries, as well as to the organizers of the event.

He was of the view that international conferences are opportunities to exchange experiences and evaluate attempts to achieve organizational objectives.

The Iranian official said judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran supports holding international conferences in order to strengthen combating crimes, especially organized crimes, terrorism, drugs trading, human trafficking, and increasing cyber crimes, while it has held several international conferences in theses regards.

“I am willing to inform you that in near future, the Conference of Attorneys General and Prosecutors General of ECO Member States will be held in Tehran”, he said.

Raeisi said today, universal model of human rights has been based on a secular and atheistic view of world and it does not permit other thoughts to present themselves.

He said it seems that great achievements of our Islamic society are because of the fact that first these laws derived from the religion of Islam.

“Independence of judge, independence of the Judiciary, appropriateness of crime and its punishment, principle of individualization of crime and its punishment, are some of the main indexes of legal laws and structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.

Iran’s Deputy Judiciary Chief was of the opinion that nowadays, four common threats namely cyber crimes, drugs, violence and terrorism (what we see in Occupied Palestine) and organized economical crimes, endanger legal safety and security of all countries and nations.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran suggests establishing one or more regional or international organizations that, having different approaches, will be entrusted with the task of preparing laws and regulations appropriate to decrease common threats.

Chief Justice of Afghanistan, Chief Justice of Maldives, Senior Puisne Judge, Supreme Court of India, Vice President and Judge Rapporteur of Turkish Constitutional Court, Turkey, the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran, Alireza Hagghighian and other prominent luminaries, researchers and jurists from around the world were also present on the occasion.

Working groups formed at the International Judicial Conference 2012 in Islamabad continued deliberations on Saturday on several important matters. The groups formulated recommendations to present in the concluding sessions.

Earlier a three-day International Judicial Conference, 2012 had begun here at the Supreme Court Building.
