UN General Assembly to put Iranian president’s proposal to vote

The proposal presented by President Hassan Rohani, under the heading of a world free from violence and radicalism will be put to vote at the UN General Assembly within the framework of a resolution.
According to IRIB World Service, Iran’s Ambassador to UN, Mohammad Khazai, said on Friday night that two months of talks and consultations with the representatives of regional groups and effective states for implementation of Iranian president’s proposal within the framework of the UN General Assembly’s ratification, bore fruit.
President Hassan Rohani, during his visit to New York on September 2013, and in an address to UN General Assembly, urged the international community to unite against violence and radicalism, while calling on the UN to pioneer this cause.
Iran’s envoy to UN added that during this period of time Iran’s mission to UN prepared the related draft resolution, and conducted wide-scale consultations with UN member states, attaining the essential consensus among the UN member states on this draft resolution.
The Iranian envoy to UN reminded that this draft resolution will be officially placed on the agenda of UN General Assembly and will be presented for ratification in UN General Assembly’s meeting, this week.
