ISIL uprouted from key sites east of Euphrates

Syrian Army forces have cleared so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) from two key towns along the eastern shore of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor province.

According to a Syrian army commander, “Syrian troops carried out an operation to encircle As Salhiyah. We now completely control this village – the biggest center of ISIS in this region. During the inspection of the village, we found warehouses for weapons and ammunition.”

“Now the Syrian troops continue to move towards the village of Al-Kashma, which is also an important position of ISIS,” the field commander added.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recently liberated the strategic city of Albukamal from the Islamic State forces after a short 72-hour operation – they are now concentrating their efforts on clearing the remaining areas occupied by the terrorist group.
