Islamic Iran to enhance exports of military equipment next year

Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister says the Islamic Republic plans to enhance its exports of military equipment in the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 21, 2012).

In line with Tehran’s comprehensive plan to enhance its economic growth, the defense ministry has made enormous strides to make a quantum leap in the exports of military equipment, Brigadier General Majid Bokaei said on Saturday.

In this regard, Iran will have close interactions with its neighboring and friend countries, the Iranian military official added.

The news comes as Washington and Tel Aviv have escalated their warmongering rhetoric against Iran and the US and its European allies have intensified their campaign to put Tehran under economic pressures over its nuclear energy program.

Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The country has repeatedly clarified that its military might is merely based on the nation’s defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
