URGENT: Yemen’s Popular Forces Repulse Saudi Navy Attack in Aden, Seize Vessel
The Ansarullah fighters along with army units repelled a massive naval attack by 50 Saudi vessels on the coastal areas of the Southern Yemeni province of Aden on Monday, leaving large groups of the Riyadh-led coalition soldiers dead and injured.
The Saudi navy troops sustained a heavy toll in the port city of Aden on Monday, as they attempted to launch a major offensive on the Southern province.
The Ansarullah popular fighters also took a number of the Saudi soldiers captive after seizing one of the 50 Saudi invading vessels with all its equipment.
The popular forces have also reportedly damaged several other vessels in the clashes.
The Saudi fighter jets carried out thirty raids on the airport of Yemen’s Southern city of Aden late on Sunday and inflicted major damage on the city infrastructure.
Earlier in the day, the governor’s office in Aden’s Crater district was heavily targeted by the Saudi attacks.
On Sunday, a limited number of Saudi-led ground troops were helliborne to Aden to help Al-Qaeda terrorists and forces loyal to fugitive president Mansour Hadi.
Later reports said the number of the troops sent by the Saudis to Aden stood at 40-50, adding that they were tasked with a surrveilance mission to prepare the ground for a naval attack by the Saudi Army on Ansarullah and Yemen’s army forces.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 40 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 3,163 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
On April 21, Saudi Arabia declared end to Yemen airstrikes after weeks of bombings, but airstrikes are still underway.
