Iran’s Velayati urges China to support Syrian nation

“The Chinese government should play a more effective role in supporting the wronged people of Syria,” said Ali Akbar Velayati, the senior adviser to Iran’s Leader on Thursday while receiving Pang Sen, the Ambassador of the People Republic of China to Tehran.

Mr. Pang Sen delivered the message of China’s Special Envoy to Syria Xie Xiaoyan who had met with Mr. Velayati earlier on July 23 in Tehran.

“I had also affirmed in my recent meeting with China’s Special Envoy to Syria that China has a constructive role in Syria and in International affairs,” reiterated the Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council of Iran, “and assuredly China can play a big role in realizing the absolute rights of the Syrian nation and the legitimate government of Syria.”

He highlighted that currently the regional affairs have an international scope of consequences and this calls for a more positive role of a country like China. Velayati asserted that the Islamic Republic of Iran will spare no efforts in cooperating to defend the rights of the wronged people of Syria.

“In all these meetings we witnessed the firm determination of Chinese officials to create peace and stability in the region and to fight terrorism seriously,” said Mr. Velayati about his meetings with different Chinese officials in the last years.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country which has seriously fought terrorism, Takfirism, and extremism with its full capacity in all these years te secure regional and global peace and support the oppressed nations and legitimate governments, is ready to take extensive steps in cooperating with the Chinese government to seriously fight terrorism,” underlined the Iranian senior official.

Mr. Pang Sen, in this meeting, for his part, thanked the Iranian official for giving him the chance for the meeting and discussed some issues about regional and international cooperation between Iran and China.
