Abul Sabeh: The issue of Palestinian prisoners is more central than ever

Palestinian minister of prisoners’ affairs Attallah Abul Sabeh said during his meeting with an Irish delegation on Monday that the issue of Palestinian prisoners has become a more central issue than ever especially after the war on Gaza.

The minister made his remarks during his reception of an Irish solidarity delegation of lawmakers and activists led by Jerry Makalili at the headquarters of the ministry in Gaza city in the presence of ex-detainees and families of prisoners.

Minister Abul Sabeh briefed the delegation about the suffering of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and urged them to convey their just cause to the other peoples of the world.

He highlighted that there are about 6,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, nearly 40 of them suffer from serious health problems threatening their lives.

Abu Sabeh also hailed the historic role played by Ireland in support of the Palestinian people and their cause.

For her part, the wife of prisoner Dirar Abu Sisi had the chance to talk about her husband who was kidnapped from Ukraine by the Mossad in 2011 and how she and her children are banned from visiting him in his solitary confinement.

Head of the delegation Makalili, for his part, stated that this delegation represented the Irish people and came to Gaza to send their love and support to the Palestinian people.

He said that the issue of Palestinian prisoners should not be dealt with as figures and numbers as if they are stones, but every prisoner has his own story and legend to tell the world.

He also emphasized the Palestinian people’s right to possess weapons and defend themselves as long as there is occupation killing them, destroying their property and wreaking havoc throughout their land.
