Reports indicate that Israel carried out their most extensive incursion into Syrian territory to date
In a notable escalation of tensions, Israeli ground troops have launched their most extensive incursion yet into Syrian territory, focusing their operations on the southwestern regions of Quneitra and Dara'a.
The incursion occurred on Tuesday, just hours following Israeli airstrikes in the vicinity of the coastal city of Tartus, further to the north of the Arab nation.
Occupation forces made significant progress into multiple regions within the provinces, backed by helicopter airdrops and armored convoys.
In a recent development, Israeli forces initiated an incursion targeting Tel al-Mal in Dara’a as well as the town of al-Mashara in the Quneitra region. According to local sources, Israeli units penetrated a military installation situated in Tel al-Mal, near the provincial capital of Quneitra. The operation involved conducting searches at the site before the Israeli forces eventually withdrew.
According to observers and sources within Syria, recent developments signify the deepest incursion by Israeli forces into Syrian territory since 1967, the year in which Israel seized control of the Golan Heights from Syria.
According to reports, the recent invasion has exceeded the regime’s intensified and lethal assault on Syria, which began in November 2024. During this period, foreign-supported militants succeeded in toppling Syria’s democratically-elected government.
In advance of the raid, Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes against a Syrian air defense battalion located near Tartus.
The media outlet of the newly instated Syrian administration has verified reports of recent attacks, acknowledging the occurrence of material damage. It emphasized that, fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
The Israeli military has claimed that the strikes were conducted with the objective of preventing weapons from being acquired by “hostile parties.”
The regime has consistently asserted this claim as a justification for its nearly five-month-long intensified actions against Syria.
Israel has asserted that the recent escalation is intended to prevent the spread of violence into the occupied Palestinian territories.
In an escalation of recent hostilities, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the country’s military to ready itself for possible actions aimed at safeguarding the Druze community located in regions south of Damascus, Syria. This move comes amid claims of emerging threats to the community’s security.
In a statement underscoring Israel’s stance, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Tel Aviv would take retaliatory measures should any harm befall the Druze community. He further assured that Israel is committed to providing comprehensive support to the Druze population residing in Syria.
Furthermore, the regime has called for the “demilitarization” of southern Syrian provinces, namely Quneitra, Dara’a, and Sweida.
The recent call has sparked widespread demonstrations by Syrian nationals, who are vocally condemning Tel Aviv’s breaches of Syrian sovereignty.
