Plight of Palestinian Prisoners

There are currently around 7,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, including more than 400 child detainees and 600 who are being held without charge or trial.

Israel uses forced detentions in an attempt to squash Palestinian resistance, including the only man who could possibly lead an effective uprising against Israel in the West Bank, Marwan al Bargouthi.

Since last year, the rate of arrests of Palestinians has been ramped up because of the al-Quds Intifada.

Once in jail, the prisoners are often not given medical treatment.

But despite all these hardships, the prisoners’ will has not been broken and neither has the will of the Palestinian people to resist.
