All nations should play active role in UN

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has described the United Nations as the world’s central management body in which all nations must play an “effective” role.

“The Iranian nation, as well as all other nations in the world, must play an active and effective role in the United Nations,” Ahmadinejad told reporters upon arrival in New York on Sunday.

“The UN is the world’s central management body wherein all of the global issues are solved through interaction and dialogue,” he added.

The Iranian chief executive went on to say that as the most important world body, the UN is expected to carry out its duties correctly, the president’s official website reported.

“On the world stage, there is nothing more important than the UN and in its hierarchy the General Assembly is of utmost importance. It is expected of the UN to carry out its genuine and correct duties in global management.”

Ahmadinejad is in New York City to attend the 65th United Nations General Assembly where he is scheduled to deliver a speech.
