Afghan political party slams ‘imperialistic’ deal with Great Satan US

The National United Front, an Afghan political party, has condemned a recent strategic deal between Afghanistan and the United States, calling the pact illegal and “imperialistic.”

“History won’t forgive supporters of this imperialistic pact. They will be condemned by Afghanistan’s present and future generations,” a statement from the group said.

The party also challenged the presence of American forces in Afghanistan, demanding an immediate withdrawal of US troops from the war-ravaged country.

Washington and Kabul signed an agreement on Tuesday to extend the US presence in Afghanistan to another decade beyond 2014.

Shortly after arriving in the war torn country under cover late on Tuesday night, US President Barack Obama signed the deal with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai to guarantee the presence of American troops for a period of 10 years after the expected departure of foreign combat troops in 2014.

The Afghan party, however, said the recent agreement flies in the face of Afghan constitution, urging Afghan lawmakers to oppose the accord.

“Even after the signing of the pact, interference from neighboring countries will continue. Over the past 10 years, the presence of 130,000 foreign soldiers could not stop it,” the statement went on to say.

Meanwhile, leader of the party, Ahmad Zia Massoud said the immediate withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan would help bring all warring groups to a negotiating table and restore peace and stability in Afghanistan, according to Press TV’s correspondent in Afghanistan.

The deal is illegal because Karzai has not sought the approval of Afghan lawmakers over the pact before signing it, Massoud added.

He believes the Taliban militants are fighting against the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan and peace and security won’t be restored unless the US-led soldiers leave the country.
