Video- Iraqi Army discovers ISIS mass grave in Mosul

The Iraqi Federal Police said they found a mass grave at the agricultural college of the town Hamam al-Alil, south of Mosul, following its capture yesterday.

The Iraqi military released a statement covering the horrific discovery: “Iraqi forces found… 100 bodies of citizens with their heads cut off” at the college, and that specialized teams would investigate.

Meanwhile, the Kurdish Peshmerga announced it had established full control over Bashiqa, an isolated ISIS-held town some 13 kilometers east of Mosul. This town has been claimed captured twice by the Iraqi Army and Peshmerga; however, this time frontline reporters have confirmed its capture after being allowed to enter the town on Monday evening.

In a related event, an Iraqi drone strike killed ISIS commander Abu Maryam in the village of Tarmiyah on Monday. He was considered the Islamic State’s military leader of “Wilayat Baghdad and Diyala”, a region north of the Iraqi capital.

Meanwhile, the pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) were bringing in reinforcements to defend a series of recently liberated villages southwest of Mosul.

The PMU has been fighting off waves of ISIS suicide bombers in recent days, effectively obstructing rapid new advances en route to Tal Afar, another ISIS stronghold in northern Iraq which the PMU has vowed to liberate.

Inside Mosul, neither side was able to advance today after the Islamic State retook the Aden neighbourhood in the eastern part of the city yesterday.
