West must forget bullying in talks

A top Iranian lawmaker says that the West should forget about imposing sanctions, exerting pressures and bullying if it wants to see the negotiations continue.

“If P5+1 — Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US plus Germany — member states want to see multifaceted talks with Iran continue they should put aside sanctions, exerting pressures on Iran, and bullying,” spokesman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said.

“It appears that the double standard policies of the US and some Western countries cannot continue,” IRNA quoted the lawmaker as saying.

Jalali pointed that the West cannot both exert pressure on Iran and call for holding talks.

“Iran’s inviting other countries to visit its nuclear sites shows its sincerity,” he added.

Tehran has recently offered to open its nuclear facilities to international envoys, inviting ambassadors to the Vienna-based IAEA to tour its nuclear sites.

The invitation came ahead of Iran’s multifaceted talks with the P5+1 scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on January 21 and 22.

Jalali noted that this invitation showed that Iran is ready for any kind of cooperation and interaction in order to settle the nuclear issue.

“The West should use the present opportunity in order to prepare the grounds for continuing talks, within a just framework, which will lead to accepting a nuclear Iran.”
