The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned about the situation in the besieged Gaza Strip suffering from an ongoing assault by the Israeli regime.

On Friday, WHO spokesman Paul Garwood called for the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to evacuate myriads of injured left untreated.

“WHO is calling for the creation of a humanitarian corridor… to reach various crossings and to help in the evacuation of the large number of injured people,” Garwood said.
He voiced concerns about the situation in the coastal enclave, noting, “There’s a daily increase in casualty figures.”

Garwood cited thousands of the injured, including women and children, saying, “The huge strains on the facilities inside Gaza, coupled with the challenges to get replenishments to those facilities, and the increasing insecurity on a daily basis is increasing the number of people who are getting injured, and they need better medical care.”

The WHO spokesman also expressed concerns about Israel’s shelling of medical facilities and staff in the blockaded sliver.

“This underscores the need for health facilities, patients and staff to be protected. It’s a humanitarian right,” Garwood said.
Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant airstrikes against the blockaded Gaza Strip since July 8. On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated strip.

So far, more than 850 people have been killed and thousands of others injured by the Israeli regime’s offensive against the coastal sliver despite pressure from the international community.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.
