Whys of high turnout in Iran Election

n00133365-bThe standing security apparatus stood in the election campaign also existed during holding the election and voters, in comfort, casted their ballots without any problem. In such milieu, all Iranian can have a fair judgment about the unfounded claims of foreign media which say polling in Iran held under extremely tight security.

As it was expected, many Iranians flocked the polling stations across the country in droves, casting their votes to their favorite hopefuls. Presence of three different groups of conservatives, reformists and independents in the election, with different plans and policy, along with the programs and debates broadcasted during the election campaign provided a fertile ground in clarifying the thoughts and policies of hopefuls.

Informed sources say the voter turnout in Iran’s 11th presidential election has been around 80 percent and the same standing security process stood in the election campaign also observed during holding the election.

Millions of Iranian voters headed for polling stations to cast their ballots and choose the country’s 11th president as well as their representatives in the City and Village Councils in comfort. In such milieu, all Iranian can have fair judgements about the unfounded claims of foreign media which say polling held under extremely tight security.

Such safe milieu, comparing to the existing disturbed atmosphere in Middle East scales up the value of the very present Iran situation.

Cooking up different schemes, some of Arabian and western countries tried to plunge the country into chaos during the election time and opened the old wounds of previous Presidential election. But the prudence of Iran officials, fortunately, turned the credible threats to opportunity.

Holding the 11th Presidential election, successfully, and in doing so, providing a conducive ground for Presidential hopefuls so as to let them have equal opportunity is one of the many successful examples and strategies.

The importance of peoples’ participation and their votes should, also, not be fallen on deaf ears. Although Presidential candidates might proposed different strategies but the main strategic plans of the country has been determined in the Government’s 20-year Vision document and Iran’s fifth Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP, 2011–15), so we can say that the standing differences will be just in the ways each candidate chooses.

Such framework avoids any fundamental change in the priorities and policies of Islamic Republic of Iran that might happen by changing the President after 4 years.
