Recent appearance of a Hamas commander in a video challenges zionist ‘israel’s’ assertion that he has been killed

A video featuring a senior commander of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has surfaced, contradicting claims made by the Israeli military that they had successfully killed him in the northern Gaza Strip last May.

The Palestinian news outlet, Arab48, published a video on Wednesday showing Hussein Fayyad attending a funeral in northern Gaza. The footage depicts Fayyad addressing a crowd of individuals amidst the debris of a building that had been destroyed by bombing.

A widely circulated video on social media features Fayyad commending Gaza’s resistance efforts in the face of prolonged aggression by the Israeli regime, while also characterizing the offensive as ineffectual.

In a recent statement, a Hamas commander declared that when those in power fail to meet their objectives, it signifies their defeat, whereas those who impede them, despite being weaker, are the true victors. He emphasized that Gaza has demonstrated resilience, adding that the previous day’s events highlighted Gaza’s steadfast and triumphant stance.

In May of the previous year, the Israeli military asserted that Fayyad, a leading figure of the Beit Hanoun Brigade within the al-Qassam Brigades—Hamas’ military faction—had been “neutralized” during a subterranean operation conducted in a tunnel located in Jabaliya, to the north of Gaza City.

In light of the recent release of footage on Wednesday, the Israeli military has conceded that its previous assertion regarding the elimination of a Hamas commander was founded on inaccurate intelligence.

Fayyad’s recent reappearance has reignited skepticism regarding Israel’s assertions of success on the battlefield in Gaza, particularly given historical instances where the state has inaccurately reported the deaths of significant Palestinian leaders.

The Israeli authorities agreed to a ceasefire with Hamas on Sunday, bringing an end to over 15 months of intense conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has been under blockade.

On October 7, 2023, a significant military campaign launched by Israel on the contested region resulted in the deaths of over 47,000 Palestinians and left approximately 112,000 injured.

The death toll is rising as families venture back to the devastation of their past residences in the wake of the ceasefire, desperately seeking the remains of missing loved ones. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, approximately 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for amid the debris.
