
Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi on Sunday called for joint efforts with Iran to end the Syrian crisis.
According to IRNA, he made the remarks at a joint press conference with European Council Chief Herman Van Rompuy in Cairo.
He said that Egypt tries to cooperate with Iran to find a way out of Syrian crisis and put an end to bloodshed.
Morsi said “Our recent talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi were focused on Syrian crisis.”
He reiterated his opposition to military intervention in Syria.
Morsi expressed his support to President Bashar al-Assad’s government and made clear that Egypt do not support the coalition of Syrian opposition groups.
European council chief arrived in Cairo for a three-day visit.
