Yemen: Saudi-Led Coalition Continuing Airstrikes Regardless of Ceasefire

Saudi Arabia’s fighter jets continue violating the May 12 truce, and pounded different targets across Yemen, sources in the crisis-hit country said.
The sources said that the most significant Saudi violations were reported in Sa’ada, where the Saudi forces shelled several areas across the Northern province, including al-Baqe’a, al-Tebbah al-Hamra, al-Qorm and al-Hasamah.

The US-backed Saudi warplanes also struck al-Muzarrag area and al-Khodour town in Hajjah province, the sources added.

Elsewhere in Aden, Saudi warships targeted Ras Omran with missile.

Air strikes were also reported in several areas in the provinces of Abyan, Lahj and the capital Sanaa.

Meanwhile, the Saudi media reported that Riyadh evacuated a border town after being shelled by Yemeni Tribal fighters before the ceasefire went into effect late on Tuesday.

Saudi newspaper al-Watan quoted well-informed sources as saying that the Saudi civil defense teams evacuated the town of Dhahran al-Janoub.

Earlier today, sources said that Saudi-led coalition’s warplanes targeted Al-Marafeq Base near Sa’ada despite the ceasefire.

The sources said, the al-Marafeq Base has been targeted by the Saudi-led coalition early on Friday.

The sources did not comment on the possible death toll or casualties.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 51 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 3,803 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

On April 21 and May 12, Saudi Arabia declared end to Yemen airstrikes after weeks of bombings, but airstrikes are still underway.

The five-day truce was proposed by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir last week. Yemen’s Ansarullah movement has announced its cooperation in any actions that will stop suffering in the country.
