Yemenis hold anti-Israel rally on International Quds Day

Thousands of people have flooded the streets of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, to denounce the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians on the International Quds Day.

During the Friday march, the Yemeni demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and chanted anti-Israel slogans to show their solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian nation.

The demonstration comes as Yemenis are reeling from an ongoing military aggression by Saudi Arabia, which has inflicted huge losses on the impoverished country.

Saudi attacks continue

Meanwhile, Saudi fighter jets continued pounding areas across Yemen on Friday as reports showed that eight people were killed during an attack on a school in al-Hamra District in the northern province of Lahij.

Scores of people were also injured in the strike on a school, which hosted families of refugees and those who have lost their homes in the Saudi attacks over the past weeks.

Yemen’s al-Masirah TV said another attack by Saudi forces targeted a convoy of trucks carrying flour in the southern province of Shabwah, killing at least three people.

The report said Saudi warplanes also targeted the Sarvah District in Ma’rib Province, central Yemen, damaging buildings and the properties of the residents.

Another school in the southwestern province of Ibb was also attacked by the Saudi warplanes, with no immediate report on the potential casualties.

Meanwhile, Ansarullah fighters and Yemeni army troops launched several retaliatory attacks on military sites and positions in southern Saudi territories. A report by Masirah said that the allied forces fired more than 150 missiles and artillery rounds on Saudi targets, including the headquarters of the Saudi border guards in al-Tawal region and the Ain al-Harrah military camp in the southern province of Jizan.

The incessant Saudi attacks on Yemen come despite a ceasefire announced by the United Nations (UN) on Thursday, which said the warring sides have agreed to a humanitarian pause until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, which falls on July 17.

Saudi fighter jets have been bombarding Yemen since March 26 without authorization from the UN and heedless of international calls for a halt to the onslaught.

According to the UN, over 3,000 people, including 1,500 civilians, have been killed since conflict started in Yemen in March 19.
