Video- Iran unveils new biotech medicine

Iran has unveiled a new biotechnological medicine called factor seven (Aryo Seven) and launched the production line for monoclonal antibodies.

The production line for antibodies generates one of the world’s latest types of technological drugs.
Iran stands second in the world after Denmark which has mastered the technology to produce factor seven to treat hemophilia patients.
Iran is the ninth country in the world, which has launched the production line for monoclonal antibodies.
Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who unveiled the new drug and launched the production line, said since Iran is the second only country in the world with such technology these medicinal products should reach the world patients as soon as possible.
Iran also plans to produce four new biomedicines by mid 2013 which are mainly anti-cancer medicines.
The mass production of these four drugs will save the country over 100 million dollars each year.
Iran has also obtained great achievements in producing biosimilar and biotechnology drugs, which are among the most expensive medicines.
Iran says it has achieved significant medical progress despite sanctions imposed against the country and is estimated to be one of the world’s top 10 countries in medical research with a record of over 400 medical research facilities and 76 medical magazine indexes.
