Thousands of Houthis staged a demonstration in the capital Sana’a to condemn the foreign meddling in their country’s internal affairs. The protesters marched carrying a two hundred yard long Yemeni flag, while chanting anti U-S and Israeli slogans.

They also condemned the U-N resolution which called on the Ansarullah movement to relinquish power and withdraw forces from Sana’a.

The protest comes just a day after the U-N envoy to Yemen stated that the country’s political factions are on the verge of a breakthrough agreement which could end the ongoing political deadlock.

According to the U-N envoy, a People’s Transitional Council could be formed in the days to come if rival groups reach consensus. If formed, the new chamber would be in charge of legislating the transition of power phase in Yemen.

Political tension increased in Yemen following the resignation of President Hadi after the Presidential Palace in Sana’a fell under the control of Ansarullah fighters last month.

The Ansarullah movement says they will not be intimidated by the United Nation’s resolution which called for the reversal of the announcement of the constitutional decree that dissolved Parliament on February 6.
