Yemen’s Intelligence Official: Yemen’s Al-Islah Party Coordinating Saudi-Led Airstrikes on Yemen

Yemen’s Al-Islah, a Saudi-backed political party, has coordinated the aggression against Yemen, a senior Yemeni intelligence official disclosed on Sunday.
“The Saudi air force is in full coordination with some members of Al-Islah Party in Sana’a and we demand the Yemeni citizens to inform us about any suspicious moves, specially by Al-Islah’s militias, against the security forces or popular committees,” the Yemeni source, who asked for anonymity, told FNA on Sunday.

He further warned that Al-Islah Party is working hard to find control over Yemen’s governmental and major decision-making bodies as well as Al-Iman University and the Yemeni army’s First Armored Brigade which has been under the control of the popular committees since last September.

The remarks came as the Yemeni army and the popular committees on Sunday regained control over port of Aden after heavy clashes with pro-Hadi militants.

The army, backed by the popular committees, also managed to reach the district of al-Mualla in Aden, according to the Lebanese Al-Manar website.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for eleven days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The eleven days of the Saudi-led aggression has killed at least 874 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.

Five Persian Gulf States — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait — and Egypt that are also assisted by Israel and backed by the US declared war on Yemen in a joint statement issued on March 26.

US President Barack Obama authorized the provision of logistical and intelligence support to the military operations, National Security Council Spokesperson Bernadette Meehan said late on March 25.

She added that while US forces were not taking direct military action in Yemen, Washington was establishing a Joint Planning Cell with Saudi Arabia to coordinate US military and intelligence support.
