Zahalka: The health status of hunger striker Samer Issawi has worsened

Arab Knesset member Jamal Zahalka said that Palestinian hunger striker Samer Issawi is in a very critical health condition, denying new reports about his death.

“Samer’s weight has dropped to 46 kilograms, and the glucose and pressure levels in his blood have sharply declined as well, while he still refuses to take vitamins and glucose,” Zahalka stated in a press release following his visit to Issawi in Ramla jail infirmary.

He affirmed that despite its stability, the health status of Issawi reached a life-threatening stage and there are fears of a sudden collapse in his condition.

“Someone cannot see Samer without touching his insistence and determination to move forward in his hunger strike until the end, and without getting moved by the phrase he always repeats, ‘freedom or martyrdom,’ Zahalka stressed.
