Zanganeh orders Caspian oil site construction

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has ordered the construction of a Caspian Sea oil site, a lawmaker said.

According to IRNA on Tuesday, Mohammad Mehdi Rahbari added that the project was supposed to start three years ago, but no construction operations were conducted.

Caspian Sea is rich in oil and gas. The five littoral states of Caspian Sea, namely Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, have been vying for oil and gas production from the landlocked sea, Iran Daily wrote Tuesday.

Iran has already made big gas discoveries in the Caspian Sea.
