Iraq: ISIL’s War Minister(!) Killed in Anbar Province

Samer Mohamed Matloub al-Mahlavi and three of his deputies were killed in the Iraqi airstrikes in the town of Barvaneh in Anbar province.

On Tuesday, the Iraqi forces started their mop-up operations in al-Sha’yee region near Barvaneh town. At least 60 ISIL terrorists were killed in the army’s operations in Barvaneh region yesterday.

Al-Mahlavi was a former Al-Qaeda leader and one of deputies of the former Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

In a relevant development on December 29, The Iraqi forces captured the so-called financial minister of the ISIL in the city of Ramadi in Anbar province.

The senior ISIL leader was hidden among 414 Iraqi refugees in Anbar province, but was identified and apprehended by security forces.

The security forces did not reveal the identity of the captured terrorist leader.

Also on December 26, the Iraqi armed forces killed a senior ISIL member who was in charge of the Takfiri terrorist group’s military training near the city of Ramadi.

Sa’ad al-Abidi was killed in an attack on ISIL’s military position in al-Khalediya Island located 23 kilometers to the East of Ramadi.

Al-Abidi, nicknamed Sa’ad al-Khaleda, was in charge of military training of the ISIL militants in the cities of Ramadi and Fallujah.
