Iran’s Vice-President: Iran Supports Political Program to Solve Crisis in Syria

Iranian First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi expressed his country’s support to the political program to solve the crisis in Syria as a significant step to realize stability and security in Syria.

President Bashar al-Assad proposed in his speech last Sunday a political program in which he outlined several stages for resloving the crisis which Syria is going through.

“Terrorists and foreign countries should know that the Syrian people want peace and reforms and reject foreign interference in their internal affairs,” Rahimi said in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi on Tuesday.

Iran’s Vice-President reiterated the need to exchange meetings and consultations between the officials of both countries, pointing out to the forthcoming visit of Premier al-Halqi to Iran.

He expressed hope that al-Halqi’s visit will further enhance the bilateral relations and upgrade the level of commercial exchange and economic cooperation between Damascus and Tehran.

For his part, Premier al-Halqi praised Iran’s support for the Syrian people, asserting that the Syrian people stand firmly against enemies and do not allow any foreign interference in their country.
