Iran Threatens Strong Response to Potential Strategic Misstep by E3 Nations
Iran's Foreign Minister has delivered a strong warning to the three European nations that are signatories of the 2015 nuclear agreement, collectively referred to as the E3. The minister accused them of not meeting their commitments and advised against making further "strategic mistakes."

In a statement on X, Abbas Araghchi took aim at the E3’s performance in executing the 2015 nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The E3 nations have faced criticism for allegedly failing to fulfill their commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) over the past seven years, with accusations pointing towards deliberate neglect or incompetence.
The minister criticized the latest actions taken by Britain, France, and Germany, describing them as provocative and detrimental to diplomatic efforts.
He criticized the E3 for allegedly fostering confrontation rather than remorse or diplomatic efforts. He argued that their demand for Iran to be penalized for exercising its JCPOA rights, in response to non-compliance by other parties, was unreasonable.
The minister addressed the recent developments involving an anti-Iran resolution proposed by the E3 countries and the United States at the Board of Governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) this week. Furthermore, the minister highlighted their recent warning to activate the dispute resolution mechanism outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which could result in the reimplementation of United Nations sanctions that were lifted under the 2015 agreement.
Tehran has consistently expressed dissatisfaction over what it perceives as European inaction and duplicity following the United States’ unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2018.
Araghchi underscored Tehran’s established stance, cautioning that any additional pressure or punitive actions from the European side would be countered with a resolute response.
In a recent statement, a prominent Iranian official issued a stark warning, indicating that if the E3 nations commit another significant strategic error, Iran will be forced to respond decisively. The official emphasized that the responsibility would rest entirely with the negative actors undermining their own significance.
