Late on Sunday, Israeli forces conducted a series of airstrikes targeting multiple regions in southern and eastern Lebanon, marking a fresh breach of the ceasefire agreement established on November 27.
Our correspondent has reported that a minimum of four airstrikes have hit open areas in the valleys situated between the towns of Deir Al-Zahrani, Houmine Al-Fawqa, and Roumine, located near the southern city of Nabatiyeh.
The Israeli Defense Forces stated that their recent strikes were aimed at targeting “a rocket launcher, an undisclosed military installation, and routes along the Syria-Lebanon border purportedly used for smuggling weapons to Hezbollah.”
According to the National News Agency, Sunday’s strikes were succeeded by additional breaches on Monday morning, as occupation forces conducted a sweep of the southern town of Khiam using medium and heavy artillery.
Earlier on Sunday, reports emerged of increased Israeli violations across southern Lebanon, prompting the Lebanese Army to bolster its presence in the Western Sector.
On Sunday, reports from Israeli and Lebanese media indicated that during a visit to Lebanon last week, U.S. Special Envoy Amos Hochstein conveyed assurances from the United States that it would ensure Israel’s complete withdrawal by the conclusion of the 60-day ceasefire period.
