Video- More people to be drawn to American Awakening

Having survived a month of criticism the Occupy Wall Street movement, may now have to deal with managing its success.

The movement that started in this park with just a few hundred people now is attracting support from a wide range of traditional activists, celebrities and politicians.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the American Civil Rights Movement, drew so much attention in Zuccoti Park, everywhere he moved, people traffic and activities came to a halt.

He believes this unconventional movement is rooted in long standing inequities.

In the last four weeks other high profile Americans have made the trek through the Occupy Wall Street camp, some bearing food and moral support others writing checks and speaking out publicly in support of the group.

Originally branded and marginalized with words like bums, radicals, and anarchists – Occupy Wall Street protestors are attracting support from a wide range of people across the country in the thousands.

Many say they won’t hold up a sign or sleep on the ground but claim they are equally angry about plethora of things they believe is wrong in America.

Even some people who say they are impressed with what they see happening down here also say they are having a hard time getting their heads around what the movement is about and where it is going.

Ever since its birth a month a go the group continues to get peppered with questions about creating a hierarchy and developing an agenda. Resisting those concepts the groups continue to grow in numbers and financial support.

Operations here continue to be driven by a collective management device referred to as a general assembly. In these meetings the group decides how money is spent, and what will be on the protest schedule whether that’s a march around the block or a protest in Times Square.

More marches are planned that target American wars, corporate greed and inequities in wealth. And for now, they say, their success or failure will be determined on their own terms like it or not.
