A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the resent Israeli act of aggression against Syria will cost the Tel Aviv regime dearly.

Syria said Sunday that Israel had carried out an airstrike targeting the Jamraya research center, in a suburb of Damascus. The center had been targeted by another Israeli airstrike back in January.

“The aggression has cost the fake Zionist regime dearly and the Syrian army’s power is growing day by day,” Brigadier General Yadollah Javani said Monday.

Javani said that Israel’s aggression came after terrorist groups and the opposition in Syria failed and added achievements made by the Syrian army against terrorist groups in Syria and are regarded as a failure for the Israeli regime.

The Syrian army has managed to clear the terrorist-infested areas of militants and anti-government forces, the fact which has disturbed the equations of the enemies of Syria and prompted them to increase their activities, he added.

Sunday’s aggression came shortly after Tel Aviv confirmed on Friday that its warplanes had hit a “game-changing” target in Syria.

The Iranian commander also denounced the desecration of a revered Muslim figure’s shrine on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, by militants operating in Syria.

He said that such measures aimed to create religious rift among Muslims.

He called on Muslims, in particular Shias, to remain vigilant in the face of such moves so that they will be able to thwart the plots by enemies.

According to reports by online media, foreign-backed militants in Syria have raided the mausoleum of Hujr ibn Adi, a close companion of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and a loyal supporter of the first Imam, Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH), in the Damascus suburb of Adra and transferred his remains to an unknown location.
