Zionist Lobby behind US, UK stances

An Iranian lawmaker says the US and Britain’s common stance on Iran sanctions is the handiwork of the Zionist Lobby.

“The US and UK have common interests on the world stage, and the Zionist Lobby orchestrates their common views on all issues, particularly on Iran sanctions,” Hassan Shojai Kiasari was quoted by IRNA as saying on Wednesday.

He also touched upon Washington and London’s recent threats to ratchet up sanctions on Iran “if Tehran refuses to resume talks,” and added “Iran is no stranger to sanctions”.

“Iran owes its progress to the Western-imposed sanctions,” the legislator said.

He said Iran believes the 5+1 group is not the only way forward when it comes to negotiations, and added “the Tehran meeting showed Iran can have positive and constructive interaction with other countries as well.”

Touching upon the US and Britain’s ‘flip-flop’ policy, the Iranian MP underscored the two countries are not seeking to settle problems, but to advance their own interests.

Another Iranian legislator also told IRNA on Wednesday that the West, including the US, is desperate vis-à-vis Iran.

“The US and Europe both understand that anti-Iran sanctions are useless and will fade away through time,” said Mohammad Karami Raad.

“The carrot-and-stick policy is a nonstarter”, added the parliamentarian.

“The reality is that the world has accepted Iran with its peaceful nuclear activities,” he said.
