Unknown armed men have targeted Israeli forces in the south of the occupied West Bank, leaving one officer killed and two others wounded.
The incident took place on Monday when a group of unidentified gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near Beit Haggai settlement and the Palestinian refugee camp of al-Fawar, close to al-Khalil (Hebron).
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said there were three policemen in the car who were wounded in the attack, blaming the attack on Palestinian resistance fighters.
One of the three later died of the injuries he had sustained in the attack.
Israeli army said it had immediately launched a search in the area and Palestinian sources said roadblocks were set up in the surrounding area.
