Zionist Puppet Saudi absolute monarchy calls for more intl. pressure against Damascus

Saudi absolute monarchy has called for “decisive measures” against the Syrian government, and a “fixed timeframe” for the implementation of UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan’s peace plan.

“The kingdom calls on the international community to take decisive measures to stop… the mass slaughter” of the Syrian people, AFP quoted a cabinet statement carried by the official SPA news agency.

In its weekly meeting chaired by King Abdullah, the Saudi cabinet insisted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad must fully implement Annan’s plan, which calls for the establishment of a government through an election.

Saudi Arabia claims it wants a democratically-elected government in Syria, at a time when it is being run by monarchs.

Critics say if Riyadh is really concerned about the unrest in Syria, it should stop sending al-Qaeda militants to the crisis-hit Arab nation.

Saudi Arabia has repeatedly called for providing weapons for Syria’s anti-government militants and is accused of funding and arming terrorist groups there along with Qatar.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. The violence has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of security forces.

While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.

On Monday, UN human rights chief Navi Pillay blamed the flow of arms into Syria for the escalating violence in the country and called for an end to the militarization of the ongoing conflict.

“Any further militarization of the conflict [in Syria] must be avoided at all costs,” Pillary told reporters.

A report the UK newspaper Guardian published on June 22 accused the Saudi regime of paying the armed gangs inside Syria to encourage “mass defections from the military and… pressure” the Damascus government.
