Zionist Strikes in Gaza Claim Lives of Five More Palestinian Journalists; Total Fatalities Climb to 222

According to local authorities, five more Palestinian journalists have lost their lives as a result of separate Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip. This brings the overall death toll to 222 since the onset of the Israeli military campaign in the besieged coastal territory in early October 2023.

Tragic reports emerged on Sunday as photojournalist Aziz al-Hajjar, along with his wife and their children, lost their lives in an airstrike by Israeli warplanes on a residence in Gaza Strip’s northern Saftawi neighborhood.

The family of Abdul Rahman Tawfiq al-Abadleh has announced that the Palestinian journalist was killed during an Israeli airstrike in the town of al-Qarara, situated to the north of Khan Yunis. They reported that contact with Abadleh had been lost two days prior to the incident.

The media office of Gaza’s government has reported that an Israeli strike in Deir el-Balah, located in the central Gaza Strip, has resulted in the deaths of Palestinian journalists Nour Qandil and Khaled Abu Seif, along with their young daughter.

Furthermore, Palestinian journalist Ahmad al-Zinati, his wife Nour al-Madhoun, and their children Muhammad and Khaled, were tragically killed on Saturday night when an airstrike targeted their tent in Khan Yunis.

The fatalities occurred merely two days following the death of Ahmed al-Halou, a journalist affiliated with the local al-Quds News Network, who was killed during an Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military recommenced its bombing campaign in Gaza on March 18, resulting in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians and leaving numerous others injured. This action marked the end of a two-month ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian group Hamas, as well as the collapse of a deal concerning the exchange of Israeli captives and Palestinian abductees.

Since the commencement of the Israeli military operations on October 7, 2023, a minimum of 53,272 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have lost their lives, while an additional 120,673 people have sustained injuries in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant. The charges relate to alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza region.

Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its military actions in the blockaded coastal region.
